Ngaati Te Ata Waiohuna Pou

A wonderful morning to celebrate the unveiling and blessing of Ngaati Te Ata Waiohua pou (carving) – Te Ia o Hingaia (The Flow and Current of Hingaia Stream).

The name reflects the heartbeat of the stream, its constant flow through the whenua (land) of Drury, carrying with it the mauri (life force), stories and sustenance of our people.

Te la o Hingaia is more than a carved pou – it is a living symbol of whakapapa (ancestral connection), of our duty as kaitiaki (guardians), and of our Ngaati Te Ata Waiohua vision for the healing of both people and place. It connects past, present and the future in one continuous flow.
